Grandmaster Vincent Palumbo
I was born on the 4th of November in 1965, and I grew up in the city of Adelaide in South Australia. I began martial arts/boxing training at age 8, starting out in boxing and gymnastics, and by age 10, I made up my mind to learn Judo and Jujitsu. By the time I was 15 years old, I then started training in Freestyle Combat Karate, and achieved the Black Belt by my 18th birthday. At 21, I started fighting in the combat sports ring, and since my first full-contact fight, I have won a multiple of titles in many different combat sport disciplines. Just to name a few: • South Australian Full Contact Karate Champion • Australian and World Champion for Stickfighting. • South Australian Submission Grappling Champion • South Australian and Australian Shootboxing Champion • South Australian, South Pacific, World Boxing Champion • Australian Full-Contact Kung Fu Champion • Australian Toughman Title I've had over 200 full-contact fights in the ring, and I am keen to keep fighting up until I reach 50 years of age! My list of martial arts achievements are notable too! I was inducted into the Blitz Martial Arts Magazine Hall of Fame awards in 2003, and I went on to win an award as the “Best Freestyle Martial Arts Instructor in Australia.” I was also named "Best Amateur Boxer in South Australia" in 1994, 1998, 1999 and 2000. I won the IKBBF Pro-Boxing Middleweight World Boxing Title in 2004, in a very tough title fight that went the full on 10 rounds, and I won the fight by TKO in the final round! I'm the Chief Instructor of the International Combative Martial Arts Academy, which is located in South Australia. I'm also fortunate enough to be a long time senior student of Grandmaster Cacoy Canete, 12th Dan of the Philippines! I have attained the following levels in other martial arts- • 9th Dan Cacoy Doce Pares Eskrima • 8th Dan Arjukanpo Karate • 8th Dan Filipino Pangamot Jujitsu • 6th Dan Korean Karate • 5th Dan Combat Jujitsu I've also cultivated an acting career and have appeared in two martial arts movies, the first is called FINAL COMBAT, and the other movie is called CONFESSIONS OF A PIT FIGHTER. Probably the most influential person in my life would have to be the 88 year old Grandmaster Cacoy Canete who is a 12th Dan Black Belt of Cebu City in the Philippines. We met 20 years ago, when I was already a 3rd Dan in the Freestyle Combat Karate, and I met Grandmaster Canete in Alice Springs of the Northern Territory in Australia. Grandmaster was doing a Doce Pares Eskrima seminar there in Alice Springs, and I met him through my Eskrima teacher Master Martin Gardiner. I'm grateful to be a student of the great 'Cacoy Canete', and I cherish being friends with this very special man!
